Prajnesh Gunneswaran kept up his splendid run by reaching the semi-finals at the KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger. Gunneswaran, currently ranked World No. 110, defeated former Top 100 player Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan 6-4, 6-4 at the Mhalunge-Balewadi Tennis Complex on Thursday.
The left-hander from India broke his oppenent’s serve in the eighth game of the first set and the ninth game of the second set to close out the match after one hour and 23 minutes. Gunneswaran will next face top seed Radu Albot of Moldova. The World No. 102 fought past local wild card entry Sasi Kumar Mukund 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in one hour and 49 minutes.
Third seeded Elias Ymer of Sweden struggled before getting past German qualifier Sebastian Fanselow 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and five minutes. Ymer will next meet Bradyen Schnur of Canada battled past Frederico Ferreira Silva of Portugal winning 7-6(6), 3-6, 7-5 in two hours and 26 minute.
