Huber Hurkacz is the champion of the 2019 East Hotel Canberra Challenger. The No. 2 seed from Poland fought past the tournament’s No. 4 Ilya Ivashka of Belarus 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in Saturday’s singles final.
Hurkacz broke his opponent’s serve four times and won 52 per cent of the total points played. The 21-year-old Wroclaw native secured victory after just under two hours of play.

“I’m very happy that I won and I am the champion in Canberra,” Hurkacz stated.
By lifting his third ATP Challenger trophy, Hurkacz, who only dropped one set en route to the title, takes away $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.
Earlier in the day, Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil and Frenchman Hugo Nys clinched the doubles title. The No. 3 seeds rallied past Andre Goransson of Sweden and Sem Verbeek from the Netherlands 3-6, 6-4, 10-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
