Championship Sunday at the Oracle Challenger Series Indian Wells will kick-off at 10:00 a.m. local time with US-American Jennifer Brady taking on Viktorija Golubic from Switzerland with the title on the line. Brady defeated No. 11 seed Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan in a dominating 6-3, 6-3 semi-final victory; while Golubic upset the No. 1 seed Wang Qiang of China in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
On the men’s side, No. 1 seed and World No. 27 Kyle Edmund will meet Andrey Rublev in a much anticipated final on Sunday. Edmund defeated South African youngster Lloyd Harris in the stage of the final four 6-2, 4-6, 6-1,
The 24-year-old British wild card entry capitalized on four of his eight break point chances to prevail after one hour and 30 minutes. Seventh-seeded Rublev rolled through Daniel Evans 6-2, 6-2. The 21-year-old Russian won 64 per cent of the total points played to advance in 63 minutes.
The men’s and women’s doubles champions were also crowned on Saturday. The all-US-American duo of JC Aragone and Marcos Giron took home the title on the men’s side. The wild card entries beat Darian King of Barbados and Hunter Reese from the United States 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 12 minutes.
Krystina Pliskova from the Czech Republic Evgeniya Rodina of Russia became the women’s champions. The tandem defeated US-American Taylor Townsend and Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium 7-6(7), 6-4 in one hour and 29 minutes.
