The Academia Tenis Ferrer will join the ATP Challenger Tour in 2019. The Academy, which organized ITF Pro Circuit tournaments in the past two years, is situated in Jávea, Spain and is directed by former professionals Javier Ferrer, brother of former top 10 player David Ferrer, and Israel Vior. The ATP Challenger tournament is taking place from 30 September to 6 October at the Jávea Tennis Club.
The event with a total prize money of €46,600 will be the seventh of eight ATP Challengers to be held on Spanish soil this year. The ATP Challenger Tour will return to Marbella (in March), to the Equelite Ferrero Academy in Villena (in April), to the hard courts in El Espinar (in July) and at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca (in August), to Sevilla (in September) as well as to the Academia Sánchez-Casal in October. At Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, the inaugural Murcia Open will run from 8 to 14 April 2019.
