KITZBÜHEL, April 1, 2019
Dominic Thiem will compete in the next two editions of the Generali Open in Kitzbühel. This was announced by the organizers of the ATP 250 event on Monday.
With the exception of one year, Thiem has competed in the clay-court tournament every season since 2011. However, Austria’s local hero is still seeking his first title on home soil. His best result came in 2014 when the 25-year-old finished runner-up to David Goffin.
“I have never made a secret of the fact that I really enjoy playing in Kitzbühel and I’m really looking forward to the tournament week again,” Thiem said.
“The more often I play here, the higher are the chances to eventually clinch the trophy. A wish would come true to win the tournament this year in front of my home crowd.”

Tournament director Alexander Antonitsch cannot be happier: “It is not self-evident that a player, being ranked inside the Top 5 is competing at ATP 250 level.”
The 75th edition with a total prize money of €586,140 is going to take place from 27 July to 3 August 2019. Thiem will open his title bid on Wednesday’s night session, starting not before 7:30 pm local time.
