Top American Juniors To Compete In Junior World Team Event Qualifying In Montreal

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced the 12 top juniors nominated to represent the U.S. in the qualifying rounds of Junior Davis and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas (16-and-under) and World Junior Tennis (14-and-under), the world’s premier junior team competitions. The events will be played on April 25-27 in Montreal, Canada.

The North/Central American and Caribbean Final Qualifying rounds consist of three days of round-robin play, with each matchup consisting of two singles matches and one doubles match. The top two countries from each four-country pool will advance to the World Junior Tennis Finals, taking place on clay courts in Prostejov, Czech Republic on August 5-10.

With the U.S. set to host the Junior Davis and Fed Cup Finals at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. for the next three years, the host nation automatically earned a spot in the finals. In Montreal, the U.S. Junior Davis and Fed Cup teams will be competing for seeding in the finals that will be played on September 25-30.

The U.S. is the defending champion in both Junior Fed Cup and Boys’ World Junior Tennis.

The U.S. has won five Junior Fed Cup titles (2008, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018); three Junior Davis Cup titles (1999, 2008, 2014); seven World Junior Tennis girls’ titles (1992, 2007-10, 2013, 2017) and five World Junior Tennis boys’ titles (2002-03, 2008, 2012, 2018). Former U.S. junior international team members include Jim Courier, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Lindsay Davenport, and Sloane Stephens. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic also have represented their respective countries in junior international team competition.
