Pablo Cuevas has clinched his first title in two years. The World No. 81 from Uruguay hoisted the trophy of the $54,160 Tunis Open held on clay at the Tennis Club de Tunis. Cuevas, who entered the ATP Challenger event with a wild card, beat Joao Domingues of Portugal 7-5, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.

The top seed advanced to the title match with wins over Pedro Cachín of Argentina, Viktor Troicki from Serbia, Spaniard Daniel Gimeno Traver and Lorenzo Giustino of Italy. Cuevas broke Domingues’ serve four times to secure victory in one hour and 30 minutes.

Following his first triumph since Montevideo 2017, Cuevas collects $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points. The 33-year-old will next return to the ATP Tour, competing in the Hungarian Open in Budapest. Cuevas will open his campaign against German qualifier Yannick Maden.

On Saturday, Ruben Bemelmans of Belgium and Tim Puetz from Germany took the doubles crown. The unseeded tandem beat the all-Argentine combination of Facundo Arguello and Guillermo Duran 6-3, 6-1. The final lasted just under one hour of play.
