The spectators inside the Porsche Arena celebrated the first winner at the 42nd Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: on Monday evening, Jelena Ostapenko won the Turkish Airlines Tiebreak, thrilling the fans on the opening day of the tournament with an attractive mixture of sport and show. After beating Belinda Bencic from Switzerland in the final, she secured herself one million bonus miles from Turkish Airlines.

After the thrilling tournament in tournament and the qualifying finals, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix will pick up pace on Tuesday when the first main draw singles matches are played. The field at the WTA Premier event in Stuttgart is led by the top four-ranked players in the world. Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova will be joined by Germany’s No. 1 Angelique Kerber, who missed the Fed Cup World Group Play-Offs last weekend due to illness.

“I’m gradually feeling better and better,” Kerber, a two-time Stuttgart winner, stated in a Porsche Press Release. The 31-year-old is doing everything she possibly can in order to play her home event. “If it’d been another tournament, I’m not sure whether I’d have been fit in time.”
