Quarterfinal Friday at the $54,160 Tallahassee Tennis Challenger has come to a close, and with that the semi-finals of the ATP Challenger 80 clay-court event are set.
In the opening match of the day No. 3 seed Corentin Moutet faced off against Sumit Nagal. Moutet raced through the first set 6-2, but Nagal was able to turn the tides and take the second set 6-1 to level up the match. In the deciding set it was the Frenchmen who rallied back from a 2-5 deficit to close out the match with a final score of 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 after one hour and 57 minutes.
Next up, No. 16 seed Nino Serdarusic took to the court against Emilio Gomez and clinched the opening set in a tiebreak. Gomez though wasn’t ready to go down without a fight, rallying to a 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-0 win and booking a spot in his seventh ATP Challenger Tour semi-final. Sarasota Open champion Tommy Paul took to the court next and quickly defeated No. 13 seed Mikael Torpegaard 6-4, 6-1 in 69 minutes. The American is now on a eight match winning streak.

In the last singles semi-final it was an all-American affair as No. 2 seed Tennys Sandgren took on defending champion Noah Rubin. The two stayed neck and neck throughout the first, but Sandgren got the late break to take the first set 7-5. He carried that momentum into the second and shut down Rubin’s hopes of a title repeat with a 7-5, 6-1 win. The encounter lasted one hour and 24 minutes.
In doubles, the No. 4 seeds of Roberto Maytin and Fernando Romboli defeated Guilherme Clezar and Marc Polmans 6-4, 6-2 to book their spot in the championship match on Sunday.
Play gets underway on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with No. 3 seed Corentin Moutet taking on Emilio Gomez in the opening match on Center Court. Next up, it will be a rematch of the Sarasota Open final with Tennys Sandgren and Tommy Paul squaring off. The remaining doubles semi-final will also take place and off the court the tournament will host a Net Generation Kids Festival.
