The defending champion and a young Argentine will go head to head in the 25th final of the € 42,500 Copa Sevilla Challenger on Saturday.
Top-seed Pablo Carreῆo-Busta, who lifted the trophy here last year, emerged victorious from the all-Spanish semi-finals match with Iῆigo Cervantes, leading 6-4, 4-0 before the latter was forced to retire. The world number 54 saved the only break point he faced and converted three of his own. The match lasted one hour.
Pedro Cachin, who appeared in his second consecutive semi-final on the ATP Challenger Tour after Como last week, rallied back from a set down to overcome eighth seed Jordi Samper-Montana 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. The 20-year-old Argentine won 65% of his first service points and converted eight of his 10 break point chances to prevail in one hour and 52 minutes. Cachin will play his very first Challenger final on Saturday meeting Carreῆo-Busta for the first time on the tour.
The top-seeded Dutch team of Wesley Koolhof and Matwe Middelkoop claimed the doubles title, winning the final 7-6, 6-4 against Marco Bortolotti from Italy and Kamil Majchrzak from Poland in one hour and 23 minutes.
