Julian Lenz of Germany opened his title bid at the Karlsruhe Open with a comfortable win. The top seed of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event defeated Kirill Kiviattsev from Russia 6-1, 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Lenz didn’t face a break point, converting four of his 13 own chances to advance in only 55 minutes. The 26-year-old from Giessen will next take on Swedish qualifier Christian Lindell.
Second seeded Italian Andrea Pellegrino, as well as the tournament’s No. 3 Alen Avidzba of Russia and fourth favourite Jeremy Jahn of Germany also booked their spot in the second round. Pellegrino will be challenged by German lucky loser Christoph Negritu. Avidzba will face Ruan Roelofse of South Africa and Jahn will play Colin Sinclair from the Northern Mariana Islands.
