STUTTGART, June 8, 2018
While the final weekend at Roland Garros is underway, the MercedesCup in Stuttgart opens the extended grass-court swing on the ATP Tour on Saturday.
The qualifying draw of the €754,540 ATP 250 event is led by World No. 88 Prajnesh Gunneswaran of India, who will start against Matteo Viola from Italy. Second seed will be in-from Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan. He will take on Hiroki Moriya of Japan. In Saturday’s match of the day, Spanish veteran Feliciano López will take on German wild card entry Tim Pütz.
2017 champion Lucas Pouille was awarded the third and final wild card into the main draw. The Frenchman will join Alexander Zverev (GER/No. 5), Karen Khachanov (RUS/No. 13), Daniil Medvedev (RUS/14), Milos Raonic (CAN/16), Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO/17), Gael Monfils (FRA/18) and Denis Shapovalov(CAN/20).
Stan Wawrinka from Switzerland withdrew from the tournament citing fatigue. Main draw ceremony will be held on Saturday, 12 noon.
