Julian Lenz is the champion of the 2019 Karlsruhe Open. In Sunday’s final between the top two seeds of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event, the tournament’s No. 1 fought past Andrea Pellegrino of Italy, winning 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3.
Lenz, who didn’t drop a set en route to the title match, sent down seven aces and broke his opponent five times to secure victory in two hours and 24 minutes. It was the pair’s first tour meeting.
Following two triumphs on the ITF Pro Circuit in the Czech Republic two years ago, the 26-year-old German lifted his third career trophy. Lenz pocketed €3,240 in prize money as well as 20 ATP-Ranking points.
