HALLE, June 15, 2019

Roger Federer is back in Halle. The nine-time champion of the ATP 500 grass-court event arrived by plane in Paderborn on Saturday morning and then went on to the GERRY WEBER SPORTPARK HOTEL.

“We are looking forward to the tournament week with you. It is always a great pleasure to see you here again,” tournament director Ralf Weber said. “Welcome home. It’s such a familiar place for me, a piece of home in the tennis world. I always feel very well here. I’m fresh, I’m rested, I have no physical problems,” said Federer, who is seeking his 10th trophy next week.

The 37-year-old Swiss maestro will be joined in the 2019 field by fellow Top 10 stars Alexander Zverev of Germany and Russia’s Karen Khachanov, as well as defending champion Borna Coric. The 22-year-old Croatian recorded Top 5 wins over Zverev and Federer in the semi-finals and title match last year to claim his biggest career trophy.
