Daniel Altmaier is the champion of the fourth edition of the ITF Future Nord. The 20-year-old German defeated Christian Lindell of Sweden 6-1, 6-3 in Saturday’s men’s singles final.

Altmaier, who had been sidelined from the tour for almost one year due to injury, converted four of his 10 break point chances to secure victory in one hour and 21 minutes. The No. 8 seed lifted his sixth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, his first since 2017. Altmaier collected in Kaltenkirchen 18 ATP-Ranking points as well as $2,160 in prize money.

Later in the day, Lindell took the doubles title alongside his Brazilian partner Daniel Dutra da Silva. The tandem beat No. 2 seeds Petr Nouza and Michael Vrbensky from the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-0 in only 51 minutes.

Naito upsets Tauson to win women’s title

Meanwhile, Yuki Naito clinched the women’s crown. The second favourite from Japan rallied past top seed and reigning Australian Open Junior’s champion Clara Tauson of Denmark, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the singles final of the ITF World Tennis Tour W15 clay-court event.

Naito brok her opponent’s serve seven times to prevail after one hour and 50 minutes. By clinching her second title on the Pro Circuit, the 18-year-old took away from Germany $2,352 in prize money as well as 12 WTA-Ranking points.
