Two youngsters will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Mallorca Open, as No. 3 seed Belinda Bencic will take on seventh favourite Sofia Kenin. Bencic tallied her tour-leading eighth Top 10 win, knocking out No. 1 seed Angelique Kerber of Germany, rallying 2-6, 7-6(2), 6-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Santa Ponsa Tenis Club.
The 22-year-old from Switzerland sent down seven aces and won one point more than her opponent to prevail in exactly two hours of play.

“It means a lot to me to be in the final, I thought I fought very hard today,” Bencic told wtatennis.com afterward. “I definitely tried to give my best today and fought until the end, so I’m so happy to be in the final.”
Earlier in the day, Kenin battled past No. 2 seed Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. The 20-year-old US-American capitalized on four of her 11 break point chances to seal victory in one hour and 51 minutes.

“It feels very good to be in the final,” Kenin said, as quoted on the WTA Tour website. “I’m very happy to be here, I love the atmosphere – I feel like Mallorca gets me. And I’m obviously playing well every year here. Yeah, I think it’s my good luck charm!”
Bencic and Kenin will meet for the first time. Both women are bidding for their second title of the season.
