Polansky Advances At Gatineu Challenger

Peter Polansky advanced to the third round of the Challenger Banque National de Gatineau. The third favourite of Canada rallied past Kaichi Uchida from Japan 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in his second round match on Wednesday.

Polansky sent down seven aces, winning 73 per cent of his first service points to prevail after exactly two hours of play. Up next for the World No. 143 from Toronto will be Joao Menezes of Brazil, who outlasted Australian Andrew Harris 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Dudi Sela remained untroubled in his match against US-American Michael Redlicki. The No. 5 seed from Israel won 6-2, 6-1 in only 53 minutes. Sela will next take on No. 10 seed Jason Kubler of Australia.

Norbert Gombos, champion of last week’s Winnipeg National Bank Challenger, continued his good run of form by cruising past Skandar Mansouri of Tunisia. The No. 6 seed from Slovakia won 63 per cent of the total points played to seal a 6-0, 6-4 victory in 60 minutes. Gombos will next face Maximilian Neuchrist of Austria, who beat British lucky loser Brydan Klein 6-4, 7-5. The encounter lasted one hour and 21 minutes.

No. 8 seed Yuichi Uchiyama defeated Yosuke Watanuki in an all-Japanese affair 6-4, 6-2 and No. 12 seed Darian King of Barbados advanced to the third round with a3-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Canadian wild card entry Liam Draxl.
