Four players have earned a spot in the singles main draw of the Hamburg European Open. In Sunday’s final round of qualifying, top seed Thiago Monteiro defeated Argentine veteran Carlos Berlocq 6-3, 6-2. The 25-year-old Brazilian, who lifted the ATP Challenger trophy of the Sparkassen Open in Braunschweig last week, will take on Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany in the first round.

Local wild card entry Julian Lenz fought past Italy’s Gianluca Mager 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-5 to set a clash with World No. 9 Fabio Fognini. The 32-year-old Italian is seeded third at the Rothenbaum tournament.
Hugo Dellien of Bolivia edged past Alexey Vatutin of Russia, winning 7-5, 7-5 to meet Hamburg’s defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in the main draw. Sumit Nagal of India, who beat Spanish teenager Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 7-5, will face former Top 10 Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
