Three-time US Open women’s singles champion Kim Clijsters was officially inducted into the US Open’s Court of Champions with a ceremony between Wednesday night’s matches on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Clijsters is the first Court of Champions inductee since Tracy Austin in 2016 and the 28th overall. The Belgian Hall-of-Famer first won the US Open women’s singles title in 2005, then retired in 2007 to start a family before returning to win two more women’s singles titles in 2009-10.
To be eligible for the Court of Champions, players must have won at least one singles title at the tournament and have been retired from singles at the US Open for at least five years
