Facundo Mena has clinched his first ATP Challenger title winning the 14th edition of the €46,000 Città di Como clay-court tournament. The unseeded Argentine rallied past No. 6 seed Andrej Martin from Slovakia 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.
Mena capitalized on six of his 13 break point chances to prevail after two hours and eight minutes. Following two triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour this season, the World No. 266 celebrates his maiden trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour.

Mena, who beat Peter Torebko from Germany, Italy’s No. 5 seed Lorenzo Giustino, No. 9 seeded Argentine Facundo Bagnis, No. 3 seed Pedro Sousa from Portugal and eighth favourite Andrea Giannessi from Italy en route to the championship match, takes away from Italy €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
“It was an incredible week,” Mena said during the on-court ceremony. “I thank everyone, my coach, thanks to all of you for the wonderful tournament you have. We hope to see each other next year. ”
Earlier in the day, Andre Begemann and Florin Mergea clinched their third team title of the season. The German-Romanian duo fought past Fabricio Neis from Brazil and Pedro Sousa of Portugal 5-7, 7-5, 14-12 in one hour and 47 minutes. The final lasted one hour and 47 minutes.
