Smith Sets Second-Round Clash With Seppi At New Haven

NEW HAVEN, September 4, 2019

On a beautiful sunny Tuesday at the Oracle Challenger Series in New Haven, US-Americans racked up the wins during a packed slate of main draw action. Nine local favourites advanced through to the second round.

New Haven native Roy Smith pulled off a gritty three-set victory over qualifier Felix Corwin 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 in two hours and 25 minutes. JC Aragone bested Ireland’s Simon Carr 6-2, 6-3. Michael Mmoh came out on top against Australian qualifier Liam Broady 6-1, 7-6(2), and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski played his way to victory with a resounding 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Northern Mariana Islander Colin Sinclair.

Wednesday’s Order of Play features a packed schedule, with all of the top favourites taking the court for the first time, including top seed Andreas Seppi of Italy, who will open his title bid against Roy Smith. No. 2 seed Brayden Schnur of Canda will start against JC Aragaone.
