Michael Mmoh will compete in both singles and doubles on semi-final Saturday at the Atlantic Tire Championships. The 21-year-old US-American defeated the No. 2 seed of the $54,160 ATP Challenger hard-court event and Greenville, NC native Tommy Paul in Friday evening’s match 2-6, 7-6(6), 6-1.

Mmoh, coming off an early season shoulder injury, struggled with winning points on his second serve during the first set. He was able to make adjustments, winning all points served in the third set. The pair had recently played each other in Atlanta with Paul winning that match in three sets.

Mmoh and partner, fellow US-American Sekou Bangoura, will face Paul in the doubles semi-final on Saturday. Paul’s partner will be Kyle Lovett who played tennis at the University of Central Florida.

The first match of the day ended at close to the two and a half hour mark with Ulises Branch’s retirement due to injury in the third set. With the retirement, JC Aragon from the United States will move into the stage of the final four where he will face Michael Mmoh. This will be the first meeting for both players.

The tournament’s No. 1 seed, Andreas Seppi, continued his run defeating US-American Noah Rubin in straight sets in under one hour. Seppi will next face fifth seeded Frenchman Enzo Couacaud.
