GENEVA, September 22, 2019
Following a three-set doubles win from John Isner and Jack Sock over Team Europe’s Roger Federer and Stefanos Tsitsipas, Team World stormed back to take a 8-7 lead at the 2019 Laver Cup. The US-American duo won 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 to earn valuable three points for the red team in Geneva.
Isner and Sock outpointed their opponents from the old continent 80-76 to secure victory in one hour and 46 minutes.

“It feels amazing. We’ve got a lead.” said World Captain John McEnroe. “We are happy. I told you guys that we are going to compete hard,” Isner added during his post-match on-court interview. “We are in a very good spot right now. Let’s see, what happens.”
It is all tied in Geneva, as both teams need two more wins to clinch the title. However, following Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from the event earlier in the day, it is the first time in the young history of the competition that Team World take a real look at winning the Laver Cup.
Up next will be Dominic Thiem taking on Taylor Fritz. The US-American replaces Nick Kyrgios, who is out of the tournament with a shoulder injury.
