Jaume Munar emerged victorious from the battle of the generations with 37-year-old veteran Daniel Munoz de la Nava in the second round of the Sanchez-Casal Head by NH Hotel Group on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in the Greater Barcelona area.
The 22-year-old Spaniard, No. 2 seed of the €46,600 ATP Challenger clay-court event, converted four of his five break point chances to secure a 6-2, 6-3 victory in one hour and 19 minutes. Munar set a third-round clash with German young gun Rudolf Molleker. The pair will meet for the first time.
Pedro Martinez won the all-Spanish encounter with Inigo Cervantes 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(11). The No. 9 seed, who finished runner-up to Roberto Carballes Baena in Barcelona last year, outpointed his rival 123-116 after three hours and one minutes. Martinez will next take on Mohamed Safwat of Egypt, who beat Ante Pavic from Croatia 6-4, 7-6(3). The match lasted one hour and 49 minutes.

Carlos Taberner knocked out eighth seed Lorenzo Giustino of Italy in the final match of the day, winning 6-4, 6-0. The 22-year-old Spaniard capitalized on four of his seven break point chances to advance in one hour and 10 minutes.
Next up for Taberner will be No. 11 seeded Italian Federico Gaio, who has clinched his first ATP Challenger title since 2016 on home soil in Manerbio in August.
