VIENNA, October 11, 2019
Juan Martin del Potro has to postpone his comeback planned for this fall on the ATP Tour. Due to his knee injury he suffered at the Queen’s Club this summer, the 31-year-old from Argentina will not be able to compete at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. This was announced by the organizers of the event on Thursday. The tournament will be held on October 19-27, 2019.
Following del Potro’s withdrawal, Russia’s Andrey Rublev has earned a spot in the main draw of the ATP 500 event. Another Grand Slam champion, however, could join the field.
“We are in permanent contact with Andy Murray and have reserved a wild card for him,” tournament director Herwig Straka stated in press release.
