BERLIN, October 25, 2019

Angelique Kerber will play the inaugural Grass Court Championships Berlin, hosted at the venue of the LTTC Rot-Weiß on June 13 to 21, 2020. This was announced by the organizers of the WTA Premier Event on Friday.

“I can hardly wait to return to Berlin and to play inside the legendary Steffi-Graf Stadium,” Kerber pointed out in a press release. From 1986 to 1996, former World No. 1 Steffi Graf won the Berlin event nine times.

“It’s great to see that Angie has already committed to the tournament at this early stage,” tournament director Barbara Rittner said. “As the 2018 Wimbledon champion, she will be one of the event’s headliners.”

The WTA will return to Germany’s capital city after an 11-year absence. Ticket sales have started and are available through the tournament’s official website.
