StarWing Sports Press Release, October 29, 2019
StarWing Sports has announced the signing of Jannik Sinner, the 18-year-old rising tennis star, to a multi-year representation agreement. The Italian teen prodigy, ranked No. 93 in the ATP Rankings, has had a breakthrough season on the ATP Tour. After winning his first two Challenger titles, qualifying for his first main draw Grand Slam championship at the US Open and becoming the youngest ATP Tour semi-finalist in five years, Jannik broke the Top 100 as the youngest player in the Top 350.
“We are super excited to start this relationship with Jannik,” said Lawrence Frankopan, StarWing’s CEO and owner. “We have been following his progress for quite some time now and were very impressed with him, on and off the court. At such a young age he is showing great potential, unique personality and great fighting spirit, all characteristics of a true champion. We hope to help his long-time coach Riccardo Piatti and his team at Piatti Tennis Center in guiding Jannik to the very top of the game.”
Riccardo Piatti has been coaching and mentoring Jannik since the age of 13. His team, that includes a second tennis coach Andrea Volpini, fitness coach Dalibor Sirola and physiotherapist Claudio Zimaglia, will continue their fantastic job with the young prospect.
“We feel that we have a great team around Jannik,” said Piatti. “With Lawrence and the team behind StarWing Sports we have found the only missing part. We are confident they are the perfect fit for the role of Jannik’s agents as their reputation in the industry and track record are impressive.”
Jannik is looking to finish the season strong with his sights set on the Next Gen ATP Finals, which are being played in Milan from 5-9 November. Jannik has been awarded a wild card and will be flying the home flag.
Piatti has been one of the most respected and successful tennis coaches over the past 25 years on the ATP Tour. He has had a lot of success with the likes of Ivan Ljubicic, Richard Gasquet, Milos Raonic, Novak Djokovic, Borna Coric, Maria Sharapova and many more. Also, he is successfully nursing young talent in his Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera, Italy. You can see more on the center at http://www.piattitenniscenter.it.
