Schoolkate Continues Winning Streak At Australian Open Wild Card Play-Off

Competition is underway for the Australian Open 2020 Wildcard Play-off, where some of Australia’s top players are competing for a coveted Australian Open 2020 wildcard.

Men’s first round action got underway today, with 18/u Australian Boys’ Champion Tristan Schoolkate (WA) upsetting second seed Andrew Harris (Vic) in five sets, top seed Alex Bolt (SA) progressing after a wrist injury forced in-form Blake Mott (NSW) to retire and John-Patrick Smith (Qld), Aleksandar Vukic (NSW), Harry Bourchier (Tas), Maverick Banes (Qld), Max Purcell (NSW) and Luke Saville (SA) also progressing through to the quarterfinal stage.

First round action will get underway for our women’s competitors tomorrow, with world No.128 and top seed Maddison Inglis (WA) facing 15-year-old Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz (SA), who earned her place in the draw after taking out the 18/u Girls Championship and second seed Lizette Cabrera (Qld) up against Gabriella Da Silva-Fick (NSW) in the first round.
