The USTA announced on Thursday that the Dow Tennis Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit event held at the Greater Midland Tennis Center February 3-9, will be broadcast on Tennis Channel for the first time in tournament history.
All matches Tuesday through Sunday will be aired on Tennis Channel or Tennis Channel Plus. Singles semifinal #1 on 2/8 at 3p ET and the singles final on Sunday 2/9 at 1p ET will air on Tennis Channel (coverage subject to change). Tennis Channel is available throughout the United States on all major providers
“We are extremely excited to have one of Mid-Michigan’s largest professional sporting events broadcast to a national audience,” said Tournament Director Talaya Schilb. “With past competitors such as Li Na and Maria Sharapova, it is a great opportunity to showcase our community and the high-quality professional tennis we have here each winter.”
As in years past, tennis fans will also be able to view all main draw matches through a free live video stream. This provides the opportunity for avid followers of the sport from across the world the chance to follow the tournament from their very own homes. Matches can be viewed live at www.procircuit.usta.com starting Tuesday, February 4.
Ken Thomas will be providing commentary and analysis for both feeds throughout the week. As a former collegiate tennis player who won two USTA National Titles and played former top players such as John McEnroe, Thomas now takes his expertise to the court in a different way. Thomas follows the USTA Pro Circuit throughout the year, bringing color and insight to weekly action across the United States. When not working for the USTA Pro Circuit, Thomas runs RadioTennis.com where he broadcasts radio coverage of major tournaments around the world.
The Dow Tennis Classic, a $100,000 USTA Pro Circuit event, will be held at the Greater Midland Tennis Center, February 3-9. Professional athletes from around the world will be competing for $100,000 in prize money, as well as valuable WTA Tour Ranking points.
