CLEVELAND, February 12, 2020

Day 2 at the Cleveland Open presented by Cleveland Clinic saw the conclusion of the first round of singles action, as well as the beginning of the second round of singles and the beginning on the doubles.

On the American front, JC Aragone, Ray Sarmiento and last month’s Ann Arbor Challenger champion Ulises Blanch all defeated their seeded opponents to advance to Thursday’s third round of singles. In an all-US-American battle, World No. 192 Michael Mmoh defeated Brandon Nakashima 7-6 (2), 6-2 to also advance to the third round.

In doubles action, the top seeded team of John-Patrick Smith and Luke Saville of Australia defeated the US-American team of Ryan Harrison and Christian Harrison 7-6 (4), 6-3. Another American team in action, James Cerretani and Maxime Cressey also advanced to the second round on the heels of a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Roberto Quiroz from Ecuador and Sebastian Ofner of Austria 6-4, 6-2.

Wednesday is set to be another busy day with the conclusion of the second round singles matches, as well as more first round doubles matches. Top seed Denis Kudla from the United States will begin his Cleveland campaign by squaring off with Roberto Quiroz in a second round battle. John Jeffrey Wolf will also kick-off action in his home state as he takes on recent Dallas Challenger champion Jurij Rodionov of Austria in the night session.
