Top seed Jan Satral clinched the trophy of the Daikin Open 2020, hosted by the TennisBase Oberhaching in the south of Munich. The 29-year-old Czech beat No. 2 seed Elmar Ejupovic of Germany in Sunday’s singles final.
Satral fired 10 aces and won 87 per cent of his first-service points to secure a 6-3, 6-2 win after 80 minutes. The former World No. 136 lifted his 10th trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in addition to his two ATP Challenger titles, both won in 2016.

„Elmar played unbelievable at the beginning of the match,” Satral told Tennis TourTalk after the championship match. “He broke me in the first game, hitting so much winners and I made some strange mistakes. But I was hoping it’s gonna stop because if he is playing like this for the whole match, he will be the winner. But I played better and better and got my rhythm to get the final win.”
En route to the final, Satral defeated a couple of young players. Following his straight-set win in the opening round against 16-year-old local hero Max Rehberg, the Praha resident saved three match points in the quarterfinals against 20-year-old Jakub Paul from Switzerland to advance to the semis.
Satral, who practices at the venue of CLTK Prague, made the last step to the final with a straight-set win against his 17-year-old countryman Dalibor Srvcina, who reached a career high World No. 8 in the ITF Juniors Rankings in 2018.
Ejupovic battled through the bottom half of the draw. Following his victories against Luca Staeheli from Switzerland and Ondrej Krstev from the Czech Republic, the 27-year-old stopped the run of Swiss youngster Leandro Riedi in two sets.
In the stage of the last four, the tournament’s No. 2 battled past No. 3 seed Mick Veldheer from the Netherlands, who is based at the Estess Tennis Academy in Seefeld.
