Germany and Austria will start national tournament series later this month. This was announced by the German Tennis Federation (DTB) as well as the organizers of the Austrian Generali Pro Series on Tuesday.

The first matches of the National Tournament Series in Germany will take place in Troisdorf (North Rhine-Westphalia), Überlingen (Baden-Württemberg), Großhesselohe (Bavaria) and Neuss (North Rhine-Westphalia) with the men’s preliminary round. The country’s number two, Jan-Lennard Struff, will lead the men’s line-up. The World No. 34 from Warstein will be the top-seed of the 32-man-draw. World No. 68 Laura Siegmund will headline the women’s field.

“I think this idea is just cool. The DTB gives many players the opportunity to collect match practice and also earn some money. Therefore, this tournament invitation series is very important for us,” Struff recently said in an interview with the DTB.

The Series will start in the week of June 8 and will conclude with the finals on July 26. The matches will be played in 10 different cities.

The tournaments in Austria will be held at the Tennis Leistungszentrum Südstadt in Vienna, kicking off on May 25. The event will be organized by the tennis website tennisnet.com and World No. 3 Dominic Thiem will be part of the 16-man draw. Eight women will also step into action.

Both series will be played with two groups in a round-robin format followed by a knock-out stage.
