STARNBERG, May 11, 2020

Jan Choinski is the champion of the Tennis Point Exhibition Series 2, held on indoor clay-court at the BASE Tennis Academy im Höhr-Grenzhausen. The World No. 332 from Great Britain came out on top of Group C and finished the final round with a 2-1 match win record, 4-3 sets record and won 20-18 games.

Daniel Altmaier of Germany ended the tournament on position two and Dustin Brown finished third. Brown defeated top-ranked and last week’s champion Yannick Hanfmann 4-3, 4-1 in the final match on Sunday.

“It’s different to play when you don’t really have any fans there but at the end of the day I think all of the guys are just happy to be on the court to play and compete,” Brown was quoted by Tennis.com after he had returned to the courts for the first time since the middle of March during the Exo-Tennis Part I last weekend.

The second edition was played with a 12-man line-up featuring three groups in a round-robin format followed by a final round. Matches are played according the “Next-Gen-ATP scoring system”: best-of-five set matches, but the sets are first to four (with a tie-break at 3-3), and games feature no-ad scoring.

“I really like the format, and also because the players haven’t been able to play and train the way they normally would. I think fitness-wise it would have been an issue to play best-of-three sets, two matches a day,” said Brown last week. The 35-year-old will continue to play exhibition events over the upcoming weeks. Brown has been confirmed for next month’s Ultimate Tennis Showdown at the prestigious Mouratoglou Academy in the luxurious surroundings of Sophia Antipolis in the south of France.

Next stop, however, will be the third and final tournament of the Tennis Point Exhibition Series to be held on May 14 to 17. The matches will be broadcast exclusively on the PlaySight Sports Network.
