Austria’s e | motion group, organizers of the MercedesCup in Stuttgart, the Mallorca Open as well as the bett1 Open in Berlin, announced on Friday the launch of a new exhibition tournament to be held in Germany’s capital city.
The bett1 Aces will feature a six-man and six-woman line-up taking place from July 13 to 19 at two different locations in Berlin. The first tournament will be played on grass at the Steff Graf Stadium of the LTTC „Rot-Weiß“ e.V. followed by the second event to be hosted at Berlin’s former international airport Tempelhof.
World No. 5 Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine, World No. 7 Kiki Bertens from Belgium, World No. 38 Julia Görges of Germany and her compatriot World No. 87 Andrea Petkovic plus two wild cards will be part of the women’s draw. World No. 3 Dominic Thiem from Austria, World No. 7 Alexander Zverev of Germany, World No. 49 Nick Kyrgios from Australia and reigning NextGenATP champion Jannik Sinner of Italy plus two more wild cards will headline the men’s field.

“After the inaugural bett1open, as part of the WTA tour, falling victim to the corona pandemic and had to be postponed to the coming year, we have developed a detailed concept to host an international tennis event in Berlin according the official requirements,” Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of the e | motion group and organizer of bett1ACES, said during a virtual press conference.
The tournament will feature a hygiene and protection concept that has been approved by authorities. Matches will be played without spectators but will be broadcast live on TV. The total prize money for both events will be €200,000.
