“It felt a little bit strange to play an official match after the so many practice sessions here on the center court, but I’m basically very satisfied with my performance,” said Stebe, who has been training at the TennisBase Oberhaching for years.

Later in the day, Daniel Masur secured a6-2, 7-6 victory over Germany’s Under 16 champion Max Rehberg.

Meanwhile at the Tennis Club Großhesselohe, Maximilian Marterer fought past Überlingen winner Peter Torebko 7-6(9), 6-4. Reigning Roland Garros doubles champion Kevin Krawietz beat Julian Lenz in straight sets.

While Covid-19 restrictions are easing across the most of Germany, authorities in the northwestern state of North Rhine-Westphalia brought back the lockdown for districts of Gütersloh and Warendorf on Tuesday due to a coronavirus outbreak in a nearby meat processing plant. As a consequence of that the tournament in Versmold has been relocated to Mülheim an der Ruhr.
