According to Spanish newspaper MARCA, David Ferrer could become the new coach of Alexander Zverev. The 23-year-old German might choose the former World No. 3 from Spain to prepare for the clay-court swing that will begin in September with two ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Madrid and Rome followed by the French Open at Roland Garros.

Ferrer is going to spend the next 15 days with Zverev at Monte Carlo on a trial basis. Then they will decide if they keep working together. The 38-year-old Spaniard, who captured 27 singles titles on the ATP Tour and finished runner-up at 2013 Roland Garros to Rafael Nadal, played the final match of his career at the 2019 Mutua Madrid Open. His opponent back then: Alexander Zverev.
