STARNBERG, July 13, 2020
The semi-finals of the German Ladies‘ Series presented by Porsche will kick off on Wednesday. The tournament will be held from July 15 to 18 with a capacity of 100 spectators at the venue of the TC Bessungen in Darmstadt featuring a round-robin format, with eight players divided into two groups of four.
Top seed Laura Siegemund leads Group A alongside Katharina Gerlach, Jule Niemeier and Lisa Ponoma. “The players, who earned most victories over the past weeks are left in the draw. So it doesn’t get any easier but I am looking forward to the challenge,” said Siegemund, who currently ranked World No. 65.
Anna-Lena Friedsam, who suffered from muscular problems in the first round, received a wild card and will lead Group B alongside Tamara Korpatsch, Anna Zaja and Nastasja Schunk.
“I know Tamara from the tour, but I have never played against her,” Friedsam said. “I played Anna a few times and it will be exciting. Nastasja Schunk is a young player, who is doing well. I am definitely ready to get back to the court.”
All matches will be broadcast live on www.tennischannel.com starting on Wednesday. The first two players of each group will qualify for the finals to be held in Versmuld from July 23 to 26.
