Oscar Otte and Yannick Hanfmann will play for the title of the Tannenhof Resort German Men’s Series. The final will be held on clay on Friday at the Tennis Club Großhesselohe.
Otte, who struggled with back problems in the past, continued his great run of form by celebrating his third victory in as many matches during the round-robin format this week. On a rain-interrupted Thursday, the 26-year-old from Cologne battled past Hanfmann 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.
“Yannick is a different type of player, more aggressive on the court than Cedrik or Maxi, so it was a different match today,” said Otte. “The rain delay helped me, as I got a bit of an energy boost afterwards. I am very happy that I could fight back and win the group.”
Cedrik-Marcel Stebe finished third in the group stage following a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Maximilian Marterer. Both players will meet again tomorrow in the final play-off matches.
“Of course it was nice to win at least one match this week,” said Stebe. “I tried to do different things, being more aggressive and coming to the net from time to time, which worked out pretty well. I felt good and played well.”
