The German Tennis Federation (DTB) confirmed on Wednesday it would host the second edition of the Tennis Challenger Hamburg presented by Tannenhof. The ATP Challenger Tour event will be held indoors at the DTB base in Hamburg-Horn, Germany from October 24 to November 1, 2020. Spectators will not be allowed.
The tournament offers a total prize money of €44,820. The singles champion will earn €6,190 as well as 80 ATP Ranking points. Last year Botic van de Zandschulp from the Netherlands claimed his maiden Challenger crown through a three-set win the final over Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles.
Wolffkran Open to be played in Ismaning
The ATP Challenger Tour will also return to the South of Germany with the fourth edition of the Wolffkran Open. The event will be held indoors on carpet at the Tennis Club Ismaning, located near Munich, one week ahead of the Tennis Challenger Hamburg.The 2020 Wolffkran Open is scheduled to take place on October 17 to 25.
Christoph Poehlmann was announced as the new tournament director. Lukas Lacko is the defending champion. The veteran from Slovakia defeated big-serving US-American Maxime Cressy in last year’s title match. In Bavaria, currently a maximum of 200 spectators are allowed to attend indoor events. Information on ticket sales will follow within a short time.
Both tournaments will be held in accordance with strict hygiene protocols.
