Eastern European Winter Championship Kicks Off In Belgrade

Eastern European Winter Championship

STARNBERG, November 16, 2020

Following the Eastern European Championship in June and July as well as the Belgrade International in August, professional tennis competition has returned to Belgrade, Serbia, with the Eastern European Winter Championship. The seven-week exhibition tournament series has kicked off today at the Tipsarevic Tennis Academy.

Former World No. 74 Mirza Basic, champion of the 2018 Sofia Open ATP Tour event, and Tomislav Brkic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as 20-year-old Frenchman Jaimee Floyd Angele and his compatriot Tom Jomby, who has clinched six titles on the ITF Pro Circuit, headline the player’s line-up during the first week.

The Tipsarevic Academy stated on Facebook:

“We are very happy to announce another massive event during the Winter of 2020/2021 which will give players a chance to compete, earn additional funds for their career in these difficult times, and most importantly continue playing tennis!

“Massive thanks to all of our partners for sticking with us when the going gets tough
So far, in the span of last several months we had successfully organized close to 700 matches (Eastern European Championships, and Belgrade International), or the equivalent of over 20 ITF futures tournaments. We are looking to continue in the same fashion with the Eastern European Winter Championships.”
