Volvo Car Open Returns For 2021

Volvo Car Open

STARNBERG, November 25, 2020

The Volvo Car Open is planning to return to action on April 3rd to 11th, 2021, after the WTA Tour was halted this year due to the global lockdown directives. According to the tournament director Bob Moran, they decided to cancel the 2020 Volvo Car Open, but the team was still in high spirits despite the disappointment.

The management has been looking for a safer way to bring back the national tennis competition into Charleston’s action. Planning for the 2021 event started immediately after the cancellation of the event in March this year.

According to Moran, they are now ready to host the event next year in April, as the game has inspired many to move forward during these difficult times. Fortunately for sports punters, bet-ri.com is listing the best sportsbooks on Rhode Island for a rewarding and exciting experience when wagering on the competition.

The highly anticipated competition features the best women in professional tennis, with many world-class players expected to participate. In the past championships, some of the players who took part are World No. 1’s Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Caroline Wozniacki.

According to Charles tennis, LLC, which manages the Volvo Car Stadium, recently announced plans to renovate the stadium. The planned upgrade aims to enhance the stadium experiences for tennis players, event management, patrons, and performers. The plans in place are the stadiums’ renovation to a world-class to attract world-class athletes and talent to Daniel Island.

Due to the ongoing renovations at the Volvo Car Stadium, the event organizers will build a temporary stadium on its secondary court, Althea Gibson club, to host the event. The seating capacity in the stadium will be 3,000 fans per session. The stadium will be constructed in such a way to create an intimate atmosphere to host world-class tennis in April.

The temporary stadium will provide the Volvo Car Open to implement the health and safety protocols by limiting the number of fans in the stadium at one time. The tournament will follow all the health guidelines put in place by the government in April. The top priority in terms of health is the players, volunteers, and staff.

According to Moran, the Volvo Car Open hosted a made for a TV tennis tournament in partnership with the Tennis Channel, which provided an apparent leeway on how the 2021 event will take place, taking care of all the safety precautions. After the tournament, the open tournament director is confident that they can conduct the event safe for both player and their fans. The fans who won’t be able to attend the event will tune to the Tennis Channel.

Since 1973, the Volvo Car Open has been actively involved in women’s sports. The tournament paved the way for equal recognition of women in the tennis field regarding respect and payments.

Originally, Hilton Head Island was to host the tournament, though the venue later moved to Charleston. Today, Charleston is the home to the Volvo Car Stadium, Daniel Island.
