Brazilian teenager Gustavo Heide is beginning to make a name of himself by reaching the semi-finals of this week’s O Ano II – Tennis Open. The clay-court tournament is part of the Circuito Brasileiro de Profissionais da CBT and is taking place from December 14 to 21 at the Academia Paulistana de Tênis in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 18-year-old defeated No. 3 seed Enrique Bogo 6-2, 6-1 on Friday afternoon.

“I was very calm right from the beginning of the match, converted the main points and served very well. My return was also good. I had some problems with it earlier this week but today I managed to return very deep,” Heide analyzed his encounter in the quarterfinals. The current World No. 18 in the ITF Juniors Ranking, who clinched one title on home soil at the JB1 Brasilia in February this season, will face Paulo Saraiva in the stage of the final four.
In other action, No. 2 seed Daniel Dutra da Silva, winner of last week’s São Paulo Tennis Cup, beat Luis Britto 6-4, 6-1 to meet Gabriel Tumasonis, who edged past Gabriel Ciro, 6-4, 6-4.
