The World’s no. 2 tennis player Rafael Nadal has made significant changes in his normal tournament schedule this year to accommodate several events. Nadal will appear for the ABN indoor tournament hosted in Rotterdam at the beginning of March. The tournament organizers themselves revealed the schedule change, supported by the tournament’s director and former Wimbledon Champion Richard Krajicek. Nadal last participated in the event in 2009, managing to reach the finals, although he lost to Britain’s Andy Murray in a match that ended with an injury. Currently, Nadal is preparing for his first Grand Slam tournament of the year in Adelaide at the Australian Open.

Last year, the great Spanish tennis player brought fans to their feet by recording his 13th French Open victory. This win allowed him to match Rodger Federer’s Grand Slam titles at 20 titles, although Rafa’s only other title win in 2020 was at the Mexican Open. Nonetheless, Rafa closed his 2020 season ranking as the World’s second-best player for the seventh time. 

Nadal’s luck on hard courts remained tough throughout the year, dropping out of the ATP Finals and Paris Masters – both titles he has never won. For this reason, the 34-year-old has a lot on his mind in the 2021 season. Besides changing his luck to succeed in hard courts, Rafa is looking forward to getting a Slam title outside France.
