Since the 1970s, tennis has grown significantly as a mainstream sport instead of a privileged game. Since the days of Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, and Chris Evert, there have been plenty of skilled players to fuel rivalries on and off the pitch to make the game more entertaining. Here are the top five leading players that fans who love PA online gambling and wagering on tennis will want to watch out for 2021. 

• Novak Djokovic

A 33-year-old Serbian native, Novak Djokovic currently ranks as the world’s best player with 12,030 points. Djokovic has ranked No 1 in the world six times, a record he shares with Pete Sampras. His achievements in tennis include 17 grand slam singles titles, with eight being in the Australian Open. 

Djokovic is currently the only player who has won titles in all elite tournaments in the modern men’s professional circuit. That includes all four Grand Slam competitions, nine ATP Masters 1000 events and the ATP Finals. Overall, Djokovic boasts of 81 ATP singles titles, including 36 Masters tournaments.

• Rafael Nadal

Ranking second globally, Rafael Nadal is a world-class Spanish player who has won 20 Grand Slam titles in the men’s singles. Nadal has ranked as the world’s No. 1 player five times, and he has recorded the most significant number of ties against Roger Federer.

The 34-year-old’s dominance on clay is highlighted by 60 wins out of his 86 ATP singles titles. Nadal has worked with his uncle Toni as his coach since his childhood, and he’ll go into history as one of the greatest teenage players in the history of the ATP tour. Nadal is planning on putting a good show during the 2021 ATP Cup featuring 12 teams. 

• Dominic Thiem

Dominic Thiem is an Australian professional tennis player, currently ranking third globally – a feat he first achieved last year in March. Thiem is the second Australian to rank this high in ATP history, ranking behind the No. 1 player, Thomas Muster. 

The 27-year-old Australian has recorded 17 ATP titles, including a Grand Slam win during the 2020 US Open. That makes Thiem the first male tennis player born in the 90s to win a Grand Slam singles title. 

• Daniil Medvedev

A Russian professional tennis player born in 1996, Daniil Medvedev has recorded nine ATP singles, including three Masters 1000 titles and the 2020 ATP Finals. Medvedev got a career breakthrough in 2019 after reaching six tournament finals consecutively, including three Master’s 1000 events and the 2019 US Open. 

• Roger Federer

Ranking fifth in the world, Roger Federer is a skilled swiss tennis player who has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles in the men category and has ranked as the world’s No 1 player five times. Even better, Federer has the second-highest record of ATP singles titles behind Jimmy Connors, having won 103 times, including six ATP finals. The Swiss will go down in history as one of the greatest tennis players in this era.
