HEILBRONN, April 21, 2021
World No. 71 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga leads the entry list of the 2021 NECKARCUP. The seventh edition of the ATP Challenger 100 clay-court tournament will be held from May 9 to 15 at the TC Heilbronn am Trappensee in Heilbronn, Germany.
Tsonga enjoyed 12 weeks at career-high World No. 5 in 2012 and remains the highest-ranked Frenchman since 2002, when Sebastien Grosjean spent one week in Top 5. The 36-year-old Le Mans native has reached the quarterfinal stage of all four Grand Slams and has won 18 titles on the ATP Tour. Last year, Tsonga withdrew from Rotterdam, Marseille, Dubai and Roland Garros due to back injury.
Tsonga played his last ATP Challenger event on home soil in Orleans 2019 and will be joined in Heilbronn by fellow Top 100 players Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic, Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania and Mikael Ymer from Sweden.
Philipp Kohlschreiber, Daniel Altmaier, Peter Gojowczyk and Cedrik-Marcel Stebe are part of a strong German contingent.
