M25 Telfs AUT – Filip Misolic triumphs on home soil

The ITF World Tennis Tour powered by Raiffeisen, held at the venue of the TC Telfs, concluded with the title win of local hero Filip Misolic.

The 19-year-old Austrian made the last step to the final by defeating Kirill Kivattsev from Russia in straight sets.

Bogdan Ionut Apostol from Romania eased past Austrian wild card entry Lukas Neumayer in the semi-finals in three sets.

During the whole week, the organizers had to deal with bad weather. Matches were delayed and some of them had to be played indoors. In the title match on Monday, unseeded Misoclic outpointed his 25-year-old rival 80-67 to succeed 7-6, 6-1 after one hour and 38 minutes. Following his maiden triumph in Porec earlier this season, the Graz native celebrated his second career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Neil Oberleitner from Austria and his Latvian partner Martin Podzus clinched the doubles trophy. The top seeded tandem won the championship against the Austrian duo Filip Misolic and Lukas Neumayer with 7-6, 2-6, 10-5.

M25 Idanha-a-Nova POR – Nicolas Moreno de Alboran captures third trophy of the season

Twenty-four-year-old Nicolas Moreno de Alboran from the United-States emerged victorious at the Circuito Internacional de Tenis de Idanha-a-Nova I, held at Clube de Tenis de Idanha-a-Nova.

The former college player for UC Santa Barbara, who entered the tournament on position seven, knocked off the tournament’s second favourite Anton Matusevich from Great-Britain in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Zane Khan set the all-US-american final with a three-set-victory against Portuguese qualifier Daniel Rodrigues. 

In the championship match, No. 5 seeded Khan had to retire after the first game. New York-born Moreno de Alboran, who lives in Spain, lifted his third career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won in 2021.

 

M25 Uriage FRA – Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard earns maiden title on home soil 

Teenager Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard clinched the trophy of the Uriage Eau Thermale, hosted by the Tennis Club de Uriage, to celebrate his maiden title on the Pro Circuit.

The 18-year-old from France, the current No. 7 in the ITF Juniors Ranking, battled past his No. 4 seeded countryman Calvin Hemery in the stage of the last four in straight sets.

Frenchman Arthur Fils, who is currently ranked junior’s World No. 4 and finished runner-up to Luca van Assche at Roland-Garros in early June, edged out Argentinian No. 7 seed Facundo Juarez in the semi-finals in three sets.

Lyon-born Perricard fired 11 aces in the title match and won 83 per cent of his first-service points to seal a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 victory after two hours and 28 minutes. The two opponents captured together the doubles title of the Roland-Garros Junior Championships 2021 last month.

M15 L’Aquila ITA – Federico Arnaboldi prevails in all-Italian affair 

The Regione Abruzzo ITF World Tennis Tour 2021, held at Circolo Tennis L’Aquila, concluded with the title win of Federico Arnaboldi. 

In the all-Italian semi-final, the Como native rallied past junior entry Luciano Darderi in three sets.

Twenty-four-year-old Alexander Weis advanced to the final with a straight-set victory against lucky loser Marcello Serafini.

Lasting almost three hours, unseeded Arnaboldi converted six of his 16 break-point chances and dropped four service games in the championship match to triumph 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Following his maiden title win in Bergamo last month, the 21-year-old lifted his second career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Doboj BIH – Top favourite Zsombor Piros prevails

Zsombor Piros is the champion of the Doboj Open 2021, hosted by the Tennis Club Doboj.

The top seeded Hungarian stopped the run of Serbian qualifier Dusan Obradovic in the stage of the final four in two sets.

Petr Fajta booked the spot in the all-Hungarian final with a straight-set win versus Martin Krumich from the Czech Rupublic.

Twenty-one-year-old Piros broke his opponent in the title match five times and won 87 per cent of his first-service points to claim a 6-3, 6-2 win after 57 minutes. The Budapest native, who clinched the trophy of the 2017 Australian Open Junior Championships and was ranked World No. 3 as a junior, celebrated his third singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour. 

M15 Monastir TUN – Rinky Hijikata wins in Tunisia 

Rinky Hijikata took the title of the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, held at Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir.

The 20-year-old from Sydney, who was ranked World No. 9 as a junior, won the all-Australian semifinal-encounter against left-handed Jeremy Beale in two sets. 

Last week’s Monastir champion Valentin Vacherot from Moaco took the last step to another final with a three-set victory against No. 8 seed Eliakim Coulibaly from the Cote d’Ivoire.

Unseeded Hijikata sent down six aces and won 82 per cent of his first-service points in the championship match to prevail 6-3, 6-1 in 71 minutes. The college player for the University of North Carolina lifted his second career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour following his maiden title win on US-American soil two years ago.
