Francisco Cerundolo is the champion of the 18th edition of the Challenger Acqua Dolomia Serena Wines Tennis Cup 1881 Internazionali Del Friuli Venezia Giulia hosted by Eurosporting in Cordenons, Italy.

The No. 3 seed of the €44,820 ATP Challenger clay-court tournament emerged victorious from Sunday’s all-Argentine singles final with Tomas Martin Etcheverry, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Cerundolo beat Colombian qualifier Alejandro Gonzalez, Italians Lorenzo Giustino and Giulio Zeppieri as well as his compatriot Andrea Collarini en route to the title match.

The 22-year-old saved all six break points he faced and capitalized on four of his 11 own break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 33 minutes.

“It was a special match playing against a friend,” Cerundolo said. “Winning always gives you great emotions. Martin was successful in Trieste last week and played some splendid Challengers in Italy, so it was a tough challenge.”

By winning his fourth ATP Challenger career trophy, his first of the season, World No. 119 Cerundolo collected €6,190 in prize money and 80 ATP Ranking points.
