For the first time since 2016, the ATP Challenger Tour returned this week to Napoli, the regional capital of Campania and the third-largest city of Italy. In-form Tallon Griekspoor was crowned singles champion of the €44,820 Tennis Napoli Cup on Sunday. The No. 4 seed from the Netherlands defeated home favourite Andrea Pellegrino 6-3, 6-2 in the final of the clay-court tournament.
Griekspoor advanced to the title match with wins over local qualifier Julian Ocleppo, US-American Alexander Ritschard as well as Italians Gian Marco Moroni and top seed Stefano Travaglia.
In the final, the World No. 118 capitalized on four of his five break-point opportunities to secure victory in one hour and seven minutes.

Red-hot Griekspoor captured his fifth Challenger title of the season following his triumphs in Prague, Czech Republic, Bratislava, Slovakia, on home soil in Amersfoort and at the Murcia Open in Spain last week. He became the second Dutchman to win five titles in a season after Robin Haase 2010.
By lifting his seventh career trophy, Griekspoor earned €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
Brown/Vavassori win doubles title
On Saturday, Dustin Brown of Germany and Andrea Vavassori from Italy clinched the doubles title. The top seeds defeated Mirza Basic from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia’s Nino Serdarusic 7-5, 7-6(5). The encounter lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
By winning their second team title after Tulln, Austria last month, Brown and Vavassori split €2,670 in prize money and earned 80 ATP Doubles Ranking points.

The ATP Challenger Tour will stay in Napoli for another week for the €44,820 Vesuvio Cup hosted by Sporting Poseidon.
