Santiago Fa Rodriguez Taverna secured his 13th consecutive match win by reaching the semi-final of the Dove Men & Care Legion Sudamericana Challenger Concepción. The No. 8 seed of the $53,120 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event in Chile knocked off fourth favourite and fellow Argentine Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 7-6(1) on Friday afternoon.
Rodriguez Taverna, who captured his fifth title on the ITF Pro Circuit in Rio Cuarto and lifted his maiden trophy on the Challenger Tour on home soil in Tigre within the last three weeks, won 78 per cent of his first-service points and broke his opponent two times to prevail after one hour and 48 minutes.
The World No. 264 from Buenos Aires will next take on home favourite Gonzalo Lama. The 28-year-old Chilean fought past No. 6 seed Facundo Mena of Argentina 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 in one hour and 43 minutes.

In the top half of the draw, the tournament’s No. 1 seed Hugo Dellien beat Pedro Sakamoto of Brazil 6-2, 6-4. The World No. 114 from Bolivia capitalized on five of his six break-point chances to advance after one hour and 29 minutes.
Up next for Dellien will be third-seeded Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan. The 25-year-old Bucaramanga native eased past No. 7 Camilo Ugo Carabelli of Argentina 6-1, 6-2. The encounter lasted one hour and 22 minutes.
Caraballi will also play the doubles final. Alongside Francisco Cerundolo, the all-Argentine combination will play No. 4 seeds Diego Hidalgo from Ecuador and Cristian Rodriguez of Colombia. Saturday’s tennis action will start at 1 pm local time.
