Seven South Americans and one Spaniard were in action on quarterfinals Friday at the $50,000 Cachantun Cup in Santiago.

Top-seed Facundo Bagnis won the all-Argentine-encounter with qualifier Maximiliano Estevez 6-4, 6-0. The world number 95 from Buenos Aires hit five aces and won 72% of his first service points to advance after 74 minutes.

Bagnis will face the the last Chilean left in the draw, as Gonzalo Lama battled past Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, winning 6-7, 6-3, 7-6. The 22-year-old from Santiago withstood 13 aces from the Spanish veteran, saved one of the three break points he faced, converting three of his own to prevail in two hours and 31 minutes.

Third seed Rogerio Dutra Silva emerged victorious from the all-Brazilian-affair with Guilherme Clezar. The world number 114 from Balneario Camboriu converted four of his eight break points to meet another compatriot in the semi-finals after one hour and 33 minutes.

Dutra Silva will take on youngster Thiago Monteiro. The 21-year-old wild card defeated Juan Ignacio Londero 7-6, 6-2. Monteiro sent down nine aces, saved all five break points he faced and converted two of his own to advance after one hour and 29 minutes. Dutra Silva and Monteira met two times before. The latter won the last meeting between the two at the ATP Challenger in Mendoza, but had lost in the qualifying in Houston 2015.
